… and something to go along with it…
Do you remember PlayStation Underground demos? I do. I still have some of them lying around. I’m a very, very long time Nintendo Power subscriber (I can’t believe they are going out of print!) and always wanted to have demos attached. But no. Nintendo-didn’t. OPM on the other hand had them! Had them they did. So I became an Official US PlayStation magazine subscriber. For about five years. Then I started to run out of space and had to let it go. Sorry OPM, Nintendo Power had no demos but the choice for me was obvious.
But I digress. Demos. Yes, I happen to catch myself popping some of them into CD tray and play, just for the nostalgia. Too many of them are loose, so I’ve decided to make a simple PlayStation 2 Jampack DVD cover.
I like working on each project from scratch, and if possible, recreate every possible graphic element of the template. First problem: I couldn’t find anywhere a digital, or vector version of “Underground” logo. For professional graphic designers this should be an easy task, but not for me. Illustrator is still a challenge for me. Image below demonstrates how imperfect my design approach is.
But final effect should be much better. Second image shows a preliminary cover design I’m working on. Oh! Don’t worry, I will publish it. The only problem I’m having is overall design layout of the inlay. I guess I have to sleep on it.
My goal is to design nice and simple PS2 Jampack cover. If you’re into PS2, and would like to place your demo disks in a DVD case, this just might be droid you’re looking for. I’m not sure when exactly I’ll finish it, but the plan is to finish it within a week.
So stay tuned and let me know if you have any layout ideas.
